New York City continues to see more food halls opening, including recent Manhattan newcomers, Tin Building by Jean-Georges and Urban Hawker. This time, Brooklyn is the recipient of the latest venue that is within its Williamsburg neighborhood.

Scheduled to open on Thursday, Nov. 3, the Williamsburg Market will consist of 15,000 square feet and have its location on North Third Street between Wythe Avenue and Berry Street.

Spearheaded by the hospitality group, Moonrise Ventures, this food hall will house 17 vendor concepts with a concept as a casually-elevated dining experience.

Designed by Ogawa Depardon Architects, the food hall’s overall layout depicts what’s described as an intimate French country farmhouse meets a Brooklyn industrial aesthetic. The interior will also contain a 360-degree brass and marble bar and a well-appointed dining room. The market is based within what used to be the North 3rd Street Market, another food hall.

The market’s vendors will operate from kiosks. They include:

Harlem Seafood Soul: Founded in April 2016 by Chef Tami in Harlem as an eco-friendly mobile kitchen, Harlem Seafood Soul has been featured on Netflix, Vice’s Munchies, and the Today Show. Harlem Seafood Soul will have its first permanent residency at the Williamsburg Market.

Paper Plate: A crowd favorite at Smorgasburg, a seasonal outdoor food market, Paper Plate is also putting down roots at the Williamsburg Market. The eatery prepares burgers, fries and handspun milkshakes.

Malai: Drawing upon South Asian ingredients and aromatic spices. Malai ice cream is all eggless, handcrafted and churned with very little air, resulting in purer, more robust flavors and creamier texture. Malia’s Williamsburg Market shop will be this creamery’s second location.

Urbanbelly: Chicago’s Chef Bill Kim is bringing his hit pan-Asian concept Urbanbelly to New York City. A collaboration with the Chicago-based Cornerstone Restaurant Group, Urbanbelly serves up modern twists on Asian classics, such as coconut curry pho and spicy Korean rice cake soup.

Temakase Handroll Bar: With their DIY to-go sushi boxes and their coveted sushi counter seats in the East Village, this trendy sushi and omakase concept brings their hand roll goodness to the Williamsburg Market.

DI FARA: Domenico De Marco, or “Dom,” opened Di Fara Pizza in 1965 after emigrating to Brooklyn from the Province of Caserta in Italy. This will be DI FARA’s third location, all of which are family-operated.

Mexology: Chef Ivy’s Stark brings her handmade Mexican concept to WIlliamsburg Market after developing the fan favorite location in DUMBO.

Alidoro Italian Sandwich Shop: This Manhattan-based sandwich titan serves up Italian specialties;. this will be the shop’s first Brooklyn location.

Effin Egg: This fast-casual breakfast sandwich concept came on to the NYC breakfast scene in 2022. Its menu boasts classic comfort fare with a twist, using only the freshest and finest ingredients.

Oh-K Dog: This vendor uses a stick to deep fry their signature Korean rice hotdogs until the hotdog turns crispy golden brown; they’re filled with customers’ choice of mozzarella cheese, squid-ink, rice cake, potato, and more. They have a location on the Lower East Side.

Newlight Breadworks: Stephen Robinson founded Newlight Breadworks out of his family’s home kitchen in Bridgehampton, N.Y. in early 2020. Robinson started baking small batches of sourdough boules and hand delivering these daily to Babinski Farm Stand down the road. Newlight Breadworks now serves restaurants, farm stands, and retail locations throughout New York.

“It is truly a unique opportunity to bring together such a talented group of chefs and operators under one roof here in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, one of New York City’s most exciting and dynamic neighborhoods,” said Cameron Schur, managing partner of Moonrise Ventures, in a media release.
