The legendary musician and activist throws the absolute best party on earth at his ranch near Austin. The multi-stage event kicks off with a delicious “potluck” dinner benefitting Farm Aid. Here are the juicy details.

If you know, you know

The entertainment calendar is stuffed with concerts and intriguing benefit dinners, but rarely do the two come together in such a deeply satisfying way as they do at Willie Nelson’s Luck Reunion. I attended the two-day event in 2019 and was completely blown away by the impressive lineup, the mellow vibe of the fun-loving crowd and the incredible food served. It was the best kind of feel-good gathering.

This year’s Potluck on March 15 will shine a spotlight on the good work of three Indigenous chefs, including Crystal Wahpepah of Wahpepah’s Kitchen in Oakland, Calif. She’s the first Indigenous chef featured on Chopped and the first person to open an Indigenous restaurant in the San Francisco Bay Area. She’ll be joined by Brit Reed and Sewa Yuli of I-Collective, a group of chefs, educators, and activists with the mission to empower Indigenous communities through food.

The multi-course menu will showcase the “Three Sisters”, ingredients that are the foundation of indigenous cooking traditions, maize, squash and climbing beans, served family-style during a seated dinner.

Celebrity chefs Rick Bayless from Chicago’s Frontera Grill and Michael Nischan from Wholesome Wave will also working in the outdoor kitchen alongside host chef Brian Light (Ronin Farm and Restaurant) during the Potluck. Edgar Rico from Nixta Taqueria and Panadería’s Mariela Camacho will provide the appetizers during the welcome cocktail hour.

Reserve a VIP table for eight for $7,500, a hefty sum that includes a generous charitable donation to Farm Aid, Wholesome Wave and the Texas Food and Wine Alliance. Yup, that’s a fair chunk of change, but it includes gift bags and on-site parking. Plus, Willie Nelson!

For a full lineup of the star-studded weekend, which includes a New Orleans takeover on March 18 and a gospel brunch concert tribute to the late, great Sister Rosetta Tharpe on March 19, check out the official Luck Presents website.
