After a disappointing year without it, Winter Wonderland, is set to come back with a bang this year

Winter Wonderland, which is London’s biggest Christmas market, is set to come back with a bang this year.

The huge festive fair which has been running at London’s Hyde Park for 15 years returns to spread Christmas joy, after being closed last year due to the pandemic.

Though the entry rules have been changed, Winter Wonderland still remains filled with multiple markets.

There are delicious street food stalls and several magical attractions including an ice rink, circus shows and ice kingdom.

If you’re planning your visit to the Christmas market, here’s everything you’ll need to know…

When is Winter Wonderland opening in 2021 and what dates is it open?

The Winter Wonderland opens its gates from November 19, and will run for six weeks until January 3, 2022.

The market will be open everyday from 10am to 10pm, with last entry at 9.30pm — except on Christmas day when it will be shut.

What are the best times to visit Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park?

Given how popular it is, there is no real ‘quiet’ time to visit Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland.

In fact many of the weekend dates including December 11 and December 18 have already sold out, and other slots are sure to get filled soon as well, especially once school holidays begin.

Off-peak times such as weekday mornings before December 20 are considered less busy and might be the best time to visit if you’re looking for a quieter day to plan your trip.

How much are Winter Wonderland tickets and do you need to pre-book?

In previous years, you could turn up and walk in to the market if you wanted.

This year all guests need to book to arrive within a specific time slot, after which they can stay as long as they like.

The arrival time slots that people can pick from are as follows:

Ticket prices will vary depending on what time you book to arrive, but off-peak times which are valid between 10am and 1pm from Monday to Thursday typically cost £5.

Tickets during peak time – which is everyday from 1 pm onwards as well as day on weekends including Friday – will cost £7.50 each.

It’s to buy your tickets in advance and the Winter Wonderland website advises visitors to also book tickets to individual attractions as well.

But, if you £20 on booking any attractions, rides, games, food or drink in the same transaction, you will receive free admission.

How to get to the Winter Wonderland?

The nearest tube stations to Winter Wonderland are Victoria, Bond Street, Knightsbridge, Green Park, Marble Arch, Hyde Park Corner.

You can also get there by bus as there are several bus routes close to Hyde Park, which you can look for on the TfL website.

Though travelling by car is not recommended due to the traffic in central London, if you do drive there you can find parking in the Q-Park which has entrances at both Park Lane and Marble Arch.
