The WNBA has drawn increased interest early in the 2023-24 season.
According to ESPN, TV ratings have skyrocketed in the first half. ESPN’s 13 games have seen a 46 percent viewership uptick from last year with 546,000 average viewers.
ABC’s eight games have an average of 647,000 average viewers, an 18 percent increase from last season’s first-half matchups.

The season got off to a strong start with a 199 percent viewership surge. A game between the Seattle Storm and defending champion Las Vegas Aces was the most-watched opening weekend matchup in a decade, but it only narrowly exceeded the 683,00 viewers who watched Brittney Griner’s return.
Last weekend, ESPN aired Breanna Stewart leading the New York Liberty to an 80-76 win over her former team with 25 points. The following day, the Connecticut Sun continued their hot start with a 92-84 victory over the Washington Mystics.
Disney will hope to see another WNBA ratings boost when ABC airs the All-Star Game this Saturday at 8:30 p.m. ET. Stewart will captain a team against Aces forward A’ja Wilson.
