A FEMALE jogger tragically bled to death after being horrifically mauled by a vicious pack of dogs while out for her evening run.

Florencia Ledesma, 23, managed to phone her cop brother Enzo while being savaged by at least half a dozen animals on a wasteland near her home in Argentina.

The police officer raced to the scene on his motorbike and managed to scare off the dogs by shooting at them with his gun when they jumped on him.

Florencia was virtually unconscious by the time an ambulance arrived after sustaining bite wounds to her arms, legs and chest.

The 23-year-old student was sadly pronounced dead a short time after reaching the hospital.

The horror incident happened at around 7pm on Monday in Albardon near the western Argentinian city of San Juan, close to the country’s border with Chile.

The ferocious dogs were still on top of Florencia when her brother reached the scene, before he managed to disperse them.

Florencia’s aunt Rosa Ledesma, who managed to see her before she was taken away in an ambulance, told a local newspaper: “All she asked for was water.

“I put water in her mouth but after a short while I realised she wasn’t moving anymore and that’s when I think she was already dead.”

It remains unclear if the dogs have an owner who is unidentified or if they were strays.

Police deployed drones over the area of the attack happened in a bid to track down the animals – which are still said to be on the loose.

The victim jogged every evening as part of a keep-fit routine because she intended to join her brother in the police force and wanted to be in top shape to pass her physical exams.

She chose the waste ground where she was attacked because she felt safer than the streets around her home as there had recently been a mugging, local reports said.

A pal shared a poignant post on social media after learning of the tragedy, that read: “What awful news. Rest in peace Florencia Ledesma.

“Life took us down different parts but today I remember you as the excellent person you were.

“I cannot believe something like this has happened when you had such a great future in front of you and objectives to reach.

“My sincere condolences to your loved ones.”

In November 2019, a pregnant woman died while walking her own pet in northern France where a hunt with hounds was taking place.

The body of Elisa Pilarski, a 29-year-old who was six months pregnant, was discovered near the town of Villers-Cotterêts some 50 miles north-east of Paris.

It was initially thought the hunting dogs were to blame, but police later said after DNA tests she was killed by her partner’s dog which was an American Staffordshire terrier, and not the hounds.
