MUMBAI: The player auction of the inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League will be held in Mumbai on February 13, a source in the BCCI confirmed.
“The WPL player auction was postponed a bit due to the ILT20 playoffs in UAE. The franchises were given time to prepare for the auction,” the source said.
Apparently, all the franchises have received the player auction list too.
The WPL auction will see five companies – the Adani Group, who bought the Ahmedabad franchise with the highest bid of Rs. 1289 crore, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals and Capri Global vying to buy the top players in women’s cricket.
In the opening season, every team will have a purse of Rs 12 crore to buy the players.
