Women’s World Cup: Ireland star snubs handshake after opponent goes on holiday with her ex

But amid the joy of victory, there is a tinge of controversy as Ireland star Ruesha Littlejohn decided to shake hands with Australia’s Caitlin Foord.

The real drama since has gone viral on social media. Littlejohn was seen snubbing Foord completely during the pre-match handshake and bypassed her. The drama is reportedly due to Foord’s involvement with Littlejohn’s ex-partner.

Littlejohn ended her relationship with her seven-year-long partner and Ireland teammate Katie McCabe earlier this year.

And recently, Foord was pictured spending her holiday with McCabe in Ibiza. Both McCabe and Foord play for Arsenal in the WSL, and are said to be close friends. Hence spending time together in Ibiza may not be as surprising as it looks.

But not only did Littlejohn snubbed the handshake, she also had a heated verbal spat with Foord at the end of the match.

A source close to Arsenal women’s team also told the Mail, “Clearly there is still some tension surrounding from Littlejohn’s side of things which looks like it spilled over a bit on Thursday night. Caitlin and Katie are great friends.”

It is to be seen if there is any substance to the claims. Katie McCabe also split up recently as her relationship with Arsenal star Lia Walti came to an end.
