Woolworths grilled over ‘SNEAKY’ detail in meat display

A Woolworths shopper has slammed the supermarket over a “sneaky” detail in their meat display.

The Queensland customer took to Twitter to share a picture showing a range of meat packages for sale in a small refrigerated area.

A sign above the display reads: “Mix & Match – any two for $15.”

But the customer claims only some of the meat packs on display were actually included in the offer.

“Gotta love Woolworths and their sneaky signage,” the Twitter user wrote.

“Going past thinking mix and match anything in here – when in fact it’s only a small handful of items all mixed in.

“Absolutely disgraceful.”

The image shows seven smaller “Mix & Match – any two for $15” on the display with price stages on the specific items.

But there is a different price tag advertising a $10 sale on another item, and some meat with no specials tag at all.

A Woolworths spokesperson says the supermarket is looking into the customer’s experience.

“Each of the products that are part of the mix and match are clearly marked, however we do note the customer’s concern and we’ll be following this up,” a spokesperson has told 7NEWS.com.au.

It comes after Woolworths announced it will close 250 of its 300 remaining in-store butcher counters, in a move that’s set to cut almost 500 jobs.

The supermarket giant informed staff of the measure in January, revealing it will instead move its focus towards pre-packaged meat.

Thirty per cent of stores currently have a meat counter, which accounts for just four per cent of Woolworths’ meat sales.
