The comments from the former Pakistan captain comes amid the growing conflict between the BCCI and the PCB in the lead up to the Asia Cup and World Cup.

The BCCI denied sending the Indian team to the neighbouring team for the Asia Cup 2023 and PCB had to bow down and agree to a hybrid model in which Pakistan will host just four matches. Nine matches including India ones will be played in Sri Lanka.

Now PCB acting chairman Zaka Ashraf is demanding Pakistan World Cup matches to be held at neutral venues.

“When there can be contacts between the two countries in other sports, why not in cricket,” Misbah said, as quoted by PTI news agency.

“Why link cricket with political relations? It is unfair to deprive people of a chance to see their teams play against each other. It is a great injustice to the fans who follow Pakistan and Indian cricket a lot.

“Certainly, Pakistan should be playing in the World Cup even in India. The many times I have played in India, we have enjoyed the pressure and crowds there because it gives you motivation, and conditions in India suit us. Our team has the capability to do well in Indian conditions,” he added.

The former head coach urged the Pakistan cricket team to shut out the outside noise and focus on giving their best at the World Cup which starts from October 5 in Ahmedabad.

“What is happening outside their sphere, they should not think about it. The key to doing well in the World Cup in India is to get the playing XIs right at particular venues and against particular opposition,” he said.

Pakistan are scheduled to kick off their campaign against Netherland in Hyderabad on October 6. India and Pakistan go against each other on October 15 in Ahmedabad.
