The venue, which is owned by the Cricket Club of India (CCI) serves as home to the Mumbai men’s and women’s cricket teams. The venue has hosted many domestic and international matches including some Indian Premier League matches.
Over the years, the stadium in Mumbai has also served as home to record IPL champions Mumbai Indians as well as a secondary home to inaugural IPL champions Rajasthan Royals.
BCCI has announced the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai as one of the two venues along with the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy for the inaugural Women’s Premier League – WPL 2023.
The Brabourne stadium in Mumbai will host 11 of the 22 matches including the WPL 2023 final, while the remaining 11 matches, including the eliminator, will be played at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.
Royal Challengers Bangalore will clash with Delhi Capitals in the opening match at the venue on March 5. RCB and Gujarat Giants will be playing five of their matches at the venue, while DC and MI will play three games each at Brabourne. UP Warriorz will play four matches at the venue.
