Ball, who joined WSJ. Magazine as digital director in 2018, will fill the role vacated by Kristina O’Neill, who exited the publication in April, Wall Street Journal editor-in-chief Emma Tucker announced to employees Friday.
In her tenure at the Journal, Ball led the launch of the style news desk and is responsible for more than doubling WSJ. Magazine’s digital audience, Tucker said in an email. Ball will retain oversight of the style news desk, where she manages a team of 15 reporters and editors.
Prior to joining the company, Ball held an editorial director role at GQ as well as deputy digital editor at Vanity Fair.
“Sarah is distinctly poised to build on Kristina O’Neill’s 10 years of transformation and innovation to take the magazine to new heights,” Tucker wrote in her statement. “
