In a video posted by the ICC, Team India players including Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ravichandran Ashwin, Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur were asked to describe their captain in one word.
While wicketkeeper-batter KS Bharat called him a “relaxed” personality, pacer Siraj called him a “puller”, pointing out at the mastery the 36-year-old has over the pull shot.
“Hitman,” said pacer Mohammed Shami and opener Gill. Further, Pujara did not describe Rohit in a few words but instead used many of them to heap praises on the right-hand batter.
“The most talented player. Even as captain, he has been really well. He is very calm under pressure,” Pujara said.
Star off-spinner Ashwin used the word “class” to describe the Mumbai batter who would be leading Indian in the second major ICC event of his career.
Shardul Thakur, the last one in the video to talk about Rohit, called him ‘batani’ in Mumbai slang. He added that he has known Rohit since his childhood and he is someone who loves to keep the environment around him fun and happening.
“In Mumbai language I will call him ‘Bantai’. He is always happy-go-lucky, and you would expect some kind of joke or he will just come and suddenly tap your head. He is a funny guy. I have known him since childhood, he has been the same ever since,” Shardul said.
The WTC final 2023 will kick off from Wednesday, June 7 at The Oval in London. The match actions will start from 3:00 PM IST.
