However, former India captain and star batter Virat Kohli ahead of the match has reckoned that a flat wicket would not be on offer and that the batters would need to be cautious. Chances of rain are also on the cards on the final two days.

Considering all the factors in the match, let’s have a look at four bowlers who take maximum wickets in the WTC final 2023.

Cameron Green: The young all-rounder hasn’t picked any Test wicket against India till date but can emerge as the biggest threat for the Rohit Sharma-led side. Lanky fast bowers have troubled India in overseas Test conditions. Take for example, Kyle Jamieson who picked a total of seven wickets including a five-fer in the WTC final 2021.

Green will generate extra bounce due to his height and the swinging English conditions can help him run havoc further. Overall, the 24-year-old has played 20 Test matches and picked 23 wickets at an average of 34.30.

Mitchell Starc: The left-arm pacer is the man of big matches. Starc loves big stages and he would be giving it his all to make Australia’s and his first-ever WTC final outing a memorable one.

He has played a total of 17 Test matches against India and picked 44 wickets at an average of 38.68. Starc has played two matches at the Kennington Oval and picked three wickets.

Mohammed Siraj: The right-arm pacer could very well emerge as India’s top bowler in the all-important match. His pace, his bowling action, seam position and recent form across the three formats have made him India’s go-to man.

In seven Test matches against England, Siraj has picked 21 wickets at an average of 31.52. In England, Siraj has played five Tests and picked 18 wickets at an average of 33.

Mohammed Shami: The experienced India pacer will have the increased onus of taking up responsibilities in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah. Shami has picked just two wickets in the only match he has played at The Oval.

The right-arm pacer has played a total of 15 Tests against England and picked 44 wickets at an average of 38.29. In England, the star bowler has played 13 matches and picked 38 wickets at an average of 40.52.
