While India has already played once in the WTC Final in the inaugural edition in 2021 against New Zealand, this will be Australia’s first appearance in the match for the biggest prize in red ball format.
Rohit Sharma’s Team India sealed their spot following a 2-1 home series win earlier this year over Australia led by Pat Cummins, who also confirmed their spot in the summit clash during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023.
This will also be the first time the two sides will clash at a neutral venue, having crossed paths 106 times in the red ball format so far across venues in Australia and India. There have been several top performers from both sides over the years since 1947.
