India captain Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid have been subjects of criticism in the past couple of days. Experts have been baffled by the team selection and India’s tactics in the match, especially after the mission of Ravichandran Ashwin from the playing XI.
Amid this, former Pakistan player Basit Ali made a scathing attack on India coach Rahul Dravid. The former Pakistan player was left bemused by Dravid’s lack of understanding and rated him poorly as a coach. He also took apart India’s preparation for the WTC Final and questioned the kind of wickets India prepared in the Border Gavaskar Trophy against Australia earlier this year.
“I am a huge Rahul Dravid fan, have always been and will remain. He is a class player, a legend. But as a coach, he is absolutely zero,” Basit Ali said on his YouTube channel.
“You prepared turning pitches on India. Just answer me this. When India travelled to Australia, were there similar wickets? They had bouncy pitches, right? God knows what he was thinking. Jab upar wala akal baant raha tha toh pata nahi kaha pahaado ke peeche chhupe huye thhe (God knows where he was hiding when the god was distributing brains),” he added in his vicious discussion.
Ali also accused Australia of ball tampering in the final and also claimed to have evidence of that.
Ball tampering by Australia against India?
Basit Ali says Australia did ball tampering against India to dismiss Shubman Gill, Pujara and Kohli. He also says they had tampered the ball even when Jadeja was batting out there. #WTCFinal #WTCFinal2023

It has been a poor performance from India both in batting and bowling. Indian bowlers failed to capitalize a good start, whereas their top-order batters had a collective failure in the first innings as they conceded a mammoth lead of 173 runs.
Ali also criticised India’s decision to bowl first and slammed the bowlers for lack of intent.
“India lost the match the moment they chose to bowl worrying about the first two hours. And the kind of bowling that was on display was just like IPL. By lunch, the Indian bowlers appeared so happy as if they’d won the match,” he added.
The former Pakistan batter also questioned Test-playing fitness levels of the Indian players and said apart from Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane and Ravindra Jadeja – none of the players looked fit.
