Steve Smith and Travis Head’s centuries has taken them to the driver’s seat as they have posted 469 in the first innings. But after an overnight score of 327/3, India rallied back on the second day. Mohammed Siraj picked up Head and Shardul Thakur cleaned up Smith to prevent further damage.

Despite a decent comeback, it has been a disappointing outing for India overall in the WTC Final so far. They will have to bat out of their skin to get close to the Australian total.
On an eventful day at the Kennington Oval on Thursday, there was an off-field incident which created a humour moment at the ground.
During the flag end of Australia’s inning, a kid at the Oval stand was captured. The young boy was eating his Ice-cream in the heat of London. And then the boy licked some of the Ice-cream remnants which touched his overhead cap and was hilariously captured by the camera.
His actions left the commentators in splits as Ravi Shastri, Matthew Hayden couldn’t stop laughing.
Shastri confirmed the former Australian batter Hayden ate six of that same kind of Ice-creams during tea time on the first day of the Test match. The Aussie then replied with a cheeky answer, “I didn’t make a rookie error like the kid,” referring to the boy getting captured by the broadcaster camera.

English commentator Nasser Hussain then diverted the topic with the news of English club West Ham United winning the Europa Conference League, after the camera panned to a fan wearing the West Ham shirt.
It has been a pretty good fightback for the Indian side after a frustrating first day of the WTC Final. It is to be seen whether Indian batters put up a decent show with the bat.
