WTC Final: Jadeja or Ashwin, Umesh or Shardul? MSK Prasad’s suggestion to Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid

WTC Final: Jadeja or Ashwin, Umesh or Shardul? MSK Prasad’s suggestion to Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid

Prasad reckoned that while Jadeja has improved his batting capabilities leaps and bounds and can today play in the India’s Test eleven as a specialist batter, Ashwin’s world-class spin bowling can come handy on any kind of surface.

“Jadeja has been so good of late that he can play as a specialist batter. It is a tricky call considering what both can bring to the table, it is hard to ignore. Ashwin with his 400 plus wickets and he is someone who is who can bowl on any surface. If it comes to that, it will be a very tough call,” Prasad told PTI.

Umesh Yadav or Shardul Thakur another tough call: MSK Prasad

Further, the former India wicketkeeper-batter reckoned that making a choice between pacer Umesg Yadav and all-rounder Shardul Thakur would be the “trickiest” part for the team management. He opined that Umesh’s track record outside subcontinent conditions isn’t impressive and that could possibly help Shardul who can also add to India’s batting depth.

“That is the trickiest part. If you see the statistics, Umesh is more successful in home conditions compared to away conditions, so picking Shardul gives you that batting advantage. You need to have long batting depth also against a quality attack like Australia,” Prasad added.

The WTC final between India and Australia will kick off from June 7 at The Lord’s. The Indian team has arrived in London and sweating out hard on the field for the summit clash.
