Legendary wrestler Blackjack Lanza has died at the age of 86.
He was one-half of the wrestling duo The Blackjacks alongside Blackjack Mulligan, a tag team who dominated American professional wrestling in the 1970s and 1980s.
They were inaugurated into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2006.
Lanza’s death was announced by chief executive Vince McMahon on Wednesday afternoon, who paid tribute to the star in an emotional post on his Facebook page.
The WWE boss wrote: “Our hearts go out to the family and friends of Jack Lanza”
“He was a man’s man, respected and beloved by all.”
The cause of death has not yet been revealed.
Wrestling commentator Jim Ross added his own eulogy on Twitter, writing:
“Just heard from old, Winnipeg friend Bob Holliday that Jack Lanza has passed away at the age of 86. Jack was our lead agent during the Attitude Era. Helluva hand”.
