WWE NXT Great American Bash 2023: Olympian’s debut and Triple Threat Title match set

During the latest episode of NXT, Steveson came to the ring to let everyone know about his future. He could stay here in the WWE to pursue a professional wrestling career or he could go back to College to become a 3-time NCAA Champion.

Before Steveson could announce anything, Baron Corbin interrupted and said that Steveson can do whatever he wants but he just shouldn’t come to NXT because he will fail, something he had experienced never before in his career.

Corbin claimed himself to be a Great White Shark that smells blood. In reply, Steveson said that he just made his decision easier as he proceeded to challenge The Lone Wolf to a match at Great American Bash.

As the challenge was accepted, Steveson also exhibited Corbin with his in-ring preps as he suplex-ed Corbin twice, before Security interrupted and prevented any further collision between the two inside the ring.

With this announcement of the much-anticipated debut, it certainly seems that Steveson will be staying with the WWE for the foreseeable future and will continue to perform on the NXT brand despite having one more year’s eligibility in NCAA.

It should also be noted that USA’s first-ever 2-time Olympic Gold Medalist isn’t being fast-tracked to the main roster even after being drafted to Raw back in 2021. He had never competed on the red brand in the first place.

In another major announcement from NXT, the reigning NXT North American Champion Dominik Mysterio will defend his title against former champion Wes Lee and free agent Mustafa Ali at Great American Bash in a Triple Threat.

This week’s NXT kicked off with Wes Lee interrupting Dominik Mysterio’s title win celebration with Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley in the ring where Wes Lee appeared to demand his Title rematch, later that night.

Mustafa Ali also interrupted and said he’s the one that’s been declared to be the original challenger for the title. Ali also expressed his disappointment over a clown like Dominik becoming a champion on NXT.

Wes went to attack Dom, but Dom moved out of the way creating a brawl between the two. Dom and Ripley escaped the ring and following the segment, WWE confirmed that the title match will be a triple threat instead of a singles encounter.

The 2023 WWE NXT Great American Bash 2023 premium live event takes place this Sunday, July 30 at the H-E-B Center in Cedar Park, Texas. The confirmed match card for the PLE is given below:
