WWE NXT Great American Bash 2023: Submission Match and more announced for PLE

As spotted on the latest episode of NXT, Thea Hail defeated Elektra Lopez in a quick match using the devastating Kimura Lock finishing maneuver. With Chase U member Duke Hudson standing by her side, Hail dared to call out Tiffany Stratton, thereafter.

The reigning NXT Women’s Champion was straight-up challenged to a Submission Match at NXT Great American Bash and it was accepted. Hail then applied the Kimura Lock on Tiffany to send her a message.

This is going to rematch between Tiffany and Hail from last June’s NXT: Gold Rush 2023 special where Stratton was successful in her first-ever title defense against Hail, despite being submitted to Hail’s Kimura lock.

The match referee was dealing with Drew Gulak’s brawl with Duke Hudson of Chase U and she never noticed the tap-out. Tiffany escaped that night with a roll-up win which is the reason Hail issued a Submission Match challenge.

Tiffany has been NXT Women’s Champion since the May 28 Battleground PLE when she won the-then vacated title (caused due to Indi Hartwell’s injury and main-roster shift) by defeating Lyra Valkyria in the finale of an eight-woman tournament.

Now, at Great American Bash, Tiffany will be going through her next title defense, and on the same night, the former NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez will feature in a non-title matchup.

During this Tuesday’s episode of NXT, Perez, and Davenport participated in a dual sit-down interview with NXT commentators Vic Joseph and Booker T to make their match official for the PLE waiting by the end of this month.

The rivalry between these two started ever since Davenport was revealed to be the mysterious hooded figure behind the numerous surprise attacks on several talents from NXT women’s division including Perez who wanted to fight her back.

Also, on NXT, Tony D’Angelo was back from prison and he was announced to join “Channing” Stacks Lorenzo to challenge Gallus for the NXT Tag Team Championship at the Great American Bash PLE.

For the first time since 2009, WWE is bringing back the Great American Bash as a Premium Live Event on Sunday, July 30 at the H-E-B Center in Cedar Park, Texas. The currently confirmed match card for the PLE is given below:
