WWE Raw: Brock Lesnar challenged to a match at Backlash; Major heel-turn

Cody appeared on the April 10 episode to address the attack by Lesnar from last week. Before proceeding to the 10-time WWE World Champion, he took all the blame for losing the undisputed title match at WrestleMania 39 against Roman Reigns.

Cody said that he learned two things from the match and that wins and losses matter in this industry. Only winners who finished their stories can call themselves Hall of Famers and so it doesn’t matter that he headlined ‘Mania if he doesn’t win.

The American Nightmare then turned his attention to what Brock Lesnar did to him, last week. Cody talked about Brock’s size and accomplishments which makes him scared, but he still wanted to fight him.

Moving on, Cody Rhodes challenged Brock Lesnar to a first-time-ever match at WWE Backlash 2023 premium live event. He vowed to make Lesnar his victim and demanded that he answers the call.

In a follow-up, WWE announced that The Beast Incarnate will indeed be in attendance at next week’s Raw, presumably to give a positive response to the call and make the above-mentioned match lineup, official.

The 2023 WWE Backlash PLE is set from the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot in San Juan, Puerto Rico on Saturday, May 6. With Roman Reigns not working the show, chances are high that Lesnar vs. Rhodes will be the main event of the evening.

In more news coming out of this week’s Raw and another possible match setup for the future, WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus has turned heel on Becky Lynch. This came after the latter also dropped the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles in a bizarre set of sequences.

Over on Raw, Lita was attacked backstage and she was taken to a local medical facility for further evaluation. Since she was in no position to compete in a match, Trish Stratus replaced her in the scheduled WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship defense of the night.

In that match, Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez defeated Trish Stratus and Becky Lynch (c) to become the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. Liv pinned Trish to cause the title change after which Trish was visibly upset.

Becky went to console Trish only for her partner to strike back with a number of right hands to confirm the heel turn. As The Man struggled to her feet, the WWE Legend knocked her out with the Chick Kick.

WWE Raw backstage interviewer Byron Saxton tried to ask Trish backstage about her actions, but Trish simply left the building without answering anything. No news of Lita or her mystery attacker was given, either.

With Backlash 2023 looming around within four weeks’ time, many believe Trish vs. Lynch may take place at the PLE. But WWE could have a lengthy feud planned between the two as reports claim that the match is possibly slated to go down at SummerSlam in early August.
