As announced on WWE Raw, Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville will have their guaranteed shot at the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships held by the team of Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez, next week.
The challengers have steadily been building momentums in their favor in recent weeks. A week ago, they ran the gauntlet from beginning to end to emerge victorious and secure the title match opportunity.
Then in a final tune-up ahead of their WWE Women’s Tag Team Title match against the champions, they were able to again defeat Kayden Carter and Katana Chance on last night’s Raw using ringside shenanigans.
Morgan and Rodriguez captured the Women’s Tag Titles at Money in the Bank PLE by defeating Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler after the latter turned on Rousey and left her high-and-dry in between the match.
This is the second run that Morgan and Rodriguez are having and they’ll have their first title defense against Green and Deville. As mentioned above, Rodriguez is also reportedly set to challenge Rhea Ripley for the Women’s World Championship at SummerSlam 2023.
Speaking of the Biggest Event of the Summer, one of the marquee matches for the PLE in August could officially be announced on next week’s episode of WWE Raw when Brock Lesnar returns to answer a challenge.
This week on Raw, Cody Rhodes appeared in a promo session to talk about the rivalry with The Beast Incarnate and challenge him to the Rubber Match at SummerSlam 2023 as they’re currently standing 1-1 in singles encounters.
They had their first match against each other at Backlash in Puerto Rico, where Cody pinned Brock Lesnar in the main event. Brock was busted open after going head-first into an exposed turnbuckle and thus, Cody rolled him up for the pin.
Then at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia, Lesnar took advantage of Cody’s injured arm and passed him out using the Kimura Lock submission to neutralize the score as a result of which we will get the tiebreaker at SummerSlam.
The current assumption is that Lesnar will appear on Raw to agree on the third match against The American Nightmare under a stipulated capacity which is rumoured to be a unique Bullrope Match.
Apart from these two segments, two more matches have been announced for the July 17 episode of WWE Raw that’s scheduled to go down from the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. The confirmed card is given below:
– Brock Lesnar to answer Cody Rhodes’ Summerslam challenge
– The Alpha Academy vs. The Viking Raiders in a Viking Rules Match
– Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez (c) vs. Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship
– Intercontinental Champion Gunther vs. Matt Riddle in a non-title match (Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci will be banned from ringside)
