WWE Sale Update – Possible timeline revealed for a finalized deal

WWE Sale Update – Possible timeline revealed for a finalized deal

Being re-elected as The Chairman of the WWE, Vince McMahon is trying to ensure that they get the best deal possible for his company, ahead of the upcoming TV contract negotiations for RAW/SmackDown/NXT.

According to earlier reports from Bloomberg, Vince is asking for $9 billion to sell the company. The price rate is 37% higher than WWE’s current market value of $6.5 billion.

However, it should also be noted that since Sr. McMahon’s return in January and amid sale rumours, WWE’s stock has risen by 30%. In a follow-up, Xero News updated that WWE sale is expected to take place after WrestleMania 39, possibly at the same rate.

WWE recently confirmed that the King & Queen Of The Ring premium live event will take place in Saudi Arabia on May 27th following which Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics reported that WWE should be sold prior to this PLE given they will have to renew their TV contracts.

“If WWE isn’t sold or taken private by this date, then I doubt a transaction happens, given timing around RAW and SmackDown TV deals that need to be made. Q1 earnings call earlier in May could be another moment for clarity.”

For the time being, WWE Raw/WWE NXT has the airing deal intact with NBCUniversal’s USA Network while WWE Smackdown airs on FOX. Both the deals are reportedly intact until the Fall of 2024.

Rumour mill also has that WWE revisiting Saudi Arabia and the potential timeline of a sale could eventually fall in line, proving the earlier speculations true that Saudi Public Investment Fund was taking over the company.

This is obviously a tumultuous time for the WWE employees including the on-screen talents. Amid this, during the latest episode of Raw, Vince McMahon was backstage at the event, marking his first behind-the-scenes appearance since his July 2022 retirement.

Fightful Select reports that one anonymous WWE higher-up “felt personally” that Vince was “testing the waters” by making a physical appearance amongst the WWE Superstars.

The unexpected show-up hasn’t sparked a massive backlash from the roster but it was also claimed that the appearance did not sit well with some members especially given “many expect him to be seen at other upcoming events.”

In addition, reports also claimed that Vince didn’t have any input on how creative things were handled on Raw. Since he’s gone last summer, Paul “Triple H” Levesque had become the Chief Content Officer to take care of storylines on WWE.
