A stacked card has been announced for the upcoming night, which is scheduled to be headlined by WWE Hall of Famer Edge’s return. This will mark the legend’s second-only Smackdown appearance since Wrestlemania 39.
At the Show of Shows in April, Edge defeated “The Demon” Finn Balor inside the Hell in a Cell structure. Thereafter, he was sent to the blue brand as part of the 2023 Draft in April.
His first appearance on Smackdown was a loss in a Triple Threat Match to AJ Styles (also featuring Rey Mysterio) in the World Heavyweight Championship tournament in early May. Since then we’ve not seen or heard from him.
Now, Edge has been announced to appear on the July 7 episode of Smackdown as a special guest on The Grayson Waller Effect hosted by the newest NXT recruit, Grayson Waller. There’s no update on whether Waller will be involved in a feud with Edge.
This return on Smackdown could turn out to be Edge’s final career stint as the former world champion talked on multiple occasions about his time in the ring inching closer to the finish. This fall, he will become 50, eventually.
Edge previously expressed his desire to retire in Canada by having one last match. He is currently being advertised for the August 18 episode of SmackDown in his hometown of Toronto, Ontario which is touted to be his final night in the WWE.

Moving on from Edge, a championship match has been announced for the MSG edition of Smackdown where Austin Theory will put his United States Title on the line against Sheamus in a rematch.
Sheamus vs. Theory will also be a follow-up match between the US Champion and Sheamus’ fellow Brawling Brute member Ridge Holland from this week’s SmackDown. Theory defeated Holland to retain his title in the match.
Before this, Sheamus also challenged Theory for the title on the May 26 SmackDown in the latter’s first feud after entering the blue brand fray. Theory was victorious in that match after a distraction from Pretty Deadly.
Also, the July 7 episode of Smackdown will witness AJ Styles competing against Karrion Kross. In their previous singles encounter, Scralett’s interference allowed her husband Kross to pick up the win over Styles via the Kross-Jacket submission.
