The WWE and NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships will be unified as part of a huge match clearing up the division across all three shows.

With Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler recently capturing the gold after Liv Morgan’s devastating injury forced her and Raquel Rodriguez to give up the titles, there was further confusion after the NXT champs Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn were drafted to SmackDown.

It meant the main roster technically had two sets of women’s champions for the tag ranks, with former NXT duo The Unholy Union holding the gold despite being moved up to the blue brand.

The situation became much clearer on Friday Night SmackDown this week, when Alba and Isla were interrupted by Ronda and Shayna with a clear purpose.

The Baddest Woman On The Planet insisted there wasn’t room for two sets of tag champs, with the idea being there should be just one pair of champions representing everyone.

They challenged the rising stars to a unification match, and the Unholy Union were quick to accept before taking the fight to their new rivals.

The duo actually sent Ronda and Shayna running after exchanging blows, and now a massive bout is set to take place in two week’s time on the June 23 edition of SmackDown.

WWE actually laid down some high stakes bouts over the coming weeks, kicking off next Friday when five top teams fight in a Gauntlet Match to determine the next challenges for Undisputed Tag Team Champions Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.

Pretty Deadly will be in the high stakes match alongside the Brawling Brutes, the LWO, The Good Brothers and the Street Profits.

Meanwhile, after Charlotte Flair returned to crash the WWE Women’s Championship presentation, she has landed herself a title shot against Asuka in a few weeks.

The Queen will reignite her rivalry with the Empress of Tomorrow in a huge match at The O2 in London on June 30, just one night before Money In The Bank rolls into the same venue as part of a massive double header.

WWE SmackDown airs Friday nights at 1am on BT Sport 1.
