BT Sport is getting rebranded as part of the BT and Warner Bros Discovery (WBD) joint venture and it means WWE will have a new home this summer.

Eurosport will disappear after three decades while BT Sport – which airs all WWE programming in the UK as well as Premier League and Champions League football – will be scrapped as a brand after a decade and replaced by TNT Sports.

The two companies announced plans for the pay-TV joint venture back in May, and explained that the sports output would essentially be ‘brought together under a single brand in the future’.

In a statement on Tuesday, Andrew Georgiou – managing director of WBD Sports Europe – said: ‘Today is another important step towards the launch of a simpler and even more compelling offering for sports fans in the UK & Ireland.

‘The TNT Sports name is already synonymous with premium live sports in a number of countries around the world and a further sign of the global scale and expertise that WBD brings to the partnership with BT.’

In an interesting twist for wrestling fans, it will mean TNT Sports will become the UK broadcaster for WWE while in the United States, TNT is the channel for rival promotion All Elite Wrestling’s flagship show AEW Dynamite.

Meanwhile, this summer fans in the UK will already be looking forward to a huge weekend when SmackDown (June 30) and Money In The Bank (July 1) come to The O2 in London as part of a huge double header.

The latter will take place overseas for the first time ever hot off the heels of a record breaking Clash At The Castle show in September 2022.

The two signature bouts – one for the women and one for the men – sees top stars battle to climb the ladder and unhook the coveted briefcase which contains a contract for a championship match at a time and place of their choosing anytime within the next year.

In a statement last month, Dan Ventrelle, EVP, Talent at WWE, said: ‘The O2 is one of the world’s premier venues and the perfect home for Money In The Bank. We are excited to bring one of our “Big 5” events to the UK and look forward to welcoming the WWE Universe to London on July 1.’

And Christian D’Acuña, Senior Programming Director at The O2, added: ‘We are honoured to be hosting the first ever Money In The Bank event taking place in the UK here at The O2.

‘We’re looking forward to welcoming back WWE fans to The O2 this summer for an unforgettable night with some of WWE’s biggest Superstars.’
