Yankees captain Aaron Judge will go on the injured list with a sprain in his toe after his defensive heroics saw him crash into a bullpen fence

New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge is headed for a trip to the injured list due to the foot injury he sustained Saturday against the Los Angeles Dodgers, according to reports.

Judge injured the toe when it struck the concrete base of the outfield fence as he ran through the wall to the bullpen while making a spectacular grab against the Dodgers.

The 31-year-old outfielder has been diagnosed with a contusion and sprained toe ligament according to manager Aaron Boone.

Earlier in the day Boone had announced that Judge would miss at least the game on Tuesday night and mentioned Judge was scheduled to meet with doctors later in the evening.

The four-time All-Star underwent test on Monday to determine the extent of his injury.

While speaking on Sunday Judge didn’t rule out the possibility that the toe was broken.

‘If I’m on [the injured list], I’m on it. But I’m trying not to be. Who knows?’ Judge said. ‘I’ve got no answer yet.’

Pitcher Gerrit Cole clammed the concrete ledge at the footing of the wall as ‘kind of dangerous,’ following the game Saturday.

Boone hoped it would be something MLB or the Dodgers organization would examine for future safety concerns.

‘Hopefully that is something that they look into,’ Boone said. ‘I think all these places try to do their best to make things as safe as possible.’

‘But to me, it seems like that cement at the bottom could be padded up a little bit. Hopefully it is something they at least look into and consider, which I’m sure they will.’
