Earlier today, Balenciaga hosted its resort 2023 show inside the New York Stock Exchange in New York City. In the front row were stars like Chloë Sevigny, Pharrell Williams, Offset, and Alexa Demie. But it was the rapper Kanye West—or Ye as he is now called—who made the paparazzi and fellow showgoers go wild.
West’s appearance at the show was no surprise, given he’s often partnered with Balenciaga’s Demna. West almost exclusively wears his designs these days. Not to mention, he’s also worked with the designer on a number of custom looks for his ex-wife Kim Kardashian. To take in the show, the rapper wore a layered look that included all of his signature pieces: a black leather bomber coat, brown hoodie, long black tee, black jeans, and calf-length, monstrously large boots that were featured in the show.
Ye could easily have walked the runway today, which included many similar ensembles. It’s an aesthetic that Ye has been cultivating for years with Demna. Basically: The runway took cues from Ye, and Ye took cues from the runway. The front row simply wouldn’t have been complete without him.
