It is worth noting that you’ll still be subject to France’s entry rules, even for a day trip under 24 hours.

This means that you’ll need to be fully vaccinated against Covid, as only double jabbed UK travellers can visit the country for non-essential reasons.

Current requirements also mean you’ll need to have either a negative PCR or antigen test result taken within 48 hours before arrival, although France is expected to ditch Covid test rules within days.

Earlier this week the French Minister of Foreign Affairs, Clement Beaune, revealed in a television interview that tests would no longer be needed for vaccinated arrivals. Although he didn’t confirm details of when the new rules would come in place, he did say that the announcement would be made ‘in the coming days’.

France has also implemented a new EU rule regarding what defines being fully vaccinated.

Under this rule, you need to have received your full vaccination course within 270 days – or nine months – of arrival in the country. If you don’t meet this requirement, then you’ll also need to show proof of a booster jab to be considered fully jabbed.

Meanwhile if you’re planning to visit the likes of restaurants and museums as part of your quick trip, anyone aged 16 or over in your party will need a ‘pass vaccinal’ (which you can obtain with proof of vaccination) to access these venues.

For children aged 12-15 there is a ‘pass sanitaire’ option which can be obtained with a negative Covid test result or proof of vaccination.
