Piaget Polo Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin
The race to create the ultimate ultra-thin watch movement has led to some pretty cool watches over the past few years, leaving us in awe of the wonders of micro-engineering. But is it really enough to be thin, or should there be some additional raison d’être behind a watch as well. Piaget thinks so. The perpetual calendar is probably the most useful of all watch complications. It tells you the day, date, month and year, in addition to hours, minutes and seconds. That’s a lot of information in one watch, which is why the Piaget Polo Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin ranks as a greater achievement than its slim profile warrants. The perpetual calendar is up there with the minute repeater as a top horological achievement, and to make it ultra-thin is a feat. To make it a wearable, classy dressy watch is even better.
Piaget Polo Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin
This is not Piaget’s first perpetual calendar, but it is the company’s first ultra-thin perpetual calendar. It is powered by the automatic caliber 1255P, based on the ultra-thin caliber 1200P, which reigned as the world’s thinnest automatic movement from the time it was introduced 2010 until 2018, when Bulgari introduced a slightly thinner one. The 1255P movement debuts here in the Polo, which, surprisingly, marks the first time there has been a perpetual calendar in this collection. The case measure 42mm wide and a mere 8.65mm thick, which makes it under-the-cuff sleek and very wearable. It’s also very beautiful, with a deep emerald-green dial lined with the Polo’s signature horizontal groove pattern, designed to match the horizontal links of the integrated bracelet on the original Polo of the 1970s. White Super-LumiNova on the hands and indexes makes the multiple functions readable at a glance. The green color is unusual outside sports watches, and happens to be very fashionable at the moment, something that makes the watch attractive to both men and women – it’s very unisex-y.

Also debuting on the Piaget Polo Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin is the brand’s new SingleTouch interchangeable strap and bracelet system for easily swapping back and forth between the stainless steel bracelet and the included rubber strap. It is priced at $58,500.
