If you’re looking for novel ways to make some extra cash in order to tackle the cost of living crisis, then you might want to check your attic to see if you have any retro games lying around. As more and more people start to collect classic video games, prices for some of the rarer games have gone through the roof. The original Xbox doesn’t have as many super rare games as the PlayStation 2, N64 and Gamecube, but there are a few games worth looking out for.
Considering the popularity of the Xbox in the UK, there’s a good chance your old collection could be worth hundreds of pounds.
Gaming site Solitaired has put together a list of some of the most valuable Xbox games based on the cash value offered by UK retailer CEX.
At the time of writing, CEX will pay customers £243 for a boxed copy of beat-em-up game Xiaolin Showdown.
Elsewhere, Room Zoom: Race for Impact is worth £126, while Castlevania: Curse of Darkness can be sold to CEX for £81.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3: Mutant Nightmare is worth £58, followed by the superb Outrun 2006 Coast to Coast, which you can sell for £43.
Steel Battalion: Line of Contact can be sold to CEX for £143, but only if you’ve got the giant controller it came bundled with. Without the controller, it’s only worth £27.
It’s worth pointing out that you can get even more if you trade the games for an in-store voucher, or if you’re willing to sell directly to collectors via sites like eBay.
