Happy January, and welcome to 2023, Taurus. At the end of December, Mercury began one of its backward dances. As a result, New Year’s Eve came with a Mercury retrograde, reminding us to expect travel delays and even a champagne-induced text from an ex. Thankfully, the planet goes direct this month, along with warrior Mars and eccentric Uranus. But, first, on Monday, January 2, your ruling planet, Venus, ruler of love, beauty, and abundance, enters Aquarius and your 10th House of Social Status. As this transit is beneficial to networking, accept invitations to industry events or drinks around this time. You’re a luxurious sign who loves to stay in and lounge. Sometimes, especially if it’s cold, you just want to stay home. However, while no astrologer can promise money, professional opportunities await early in the year, so try to take advantage of them.

You could receive professional praise or welcome news as early as Friday, January 6. This date brings a bright full moon in Cancer and your 3rd House of Communication. Because full moons often mark the completion of the cycle, you may see yourself finally wrapping up one professional project and moving on to something different. And, regarding money and professional recognition, receiving comes easier once ambitious Mars ends its retrograde on Thursday, January 12. Once Mars goes direct, you receive a boost of energy from the stars and feel motivated and excited about the new year.

In many ways, January is a month meant to help you feel rested and restored in the new year. The next planet to end its retrograde is chatty Mercury, which goes direct on Wednesday, January 18. Once the communication planet is direct, you can vocalize your needs, whether regarding work or matters of love. But whether you’re single, dating, or in a committed partnership, expect to feel a desire for independence once rebellious Aquarius season begins on Friday, January 20. Of course, you can continue to enjoy your love life as is if you’re happy with it, but during the next few weeks, challenge yourself to enjoy alone time, and if you’re partnered, nights out with just your friends. Saturday, January 21, which brings a dark new moon in Aquarius and your 10th House of Social Status, is one of the best nights of the year to spend dancing with friends.

Last August, the humanitarian planet Uranus went retrograde in your sign, Taurus. As a result, from anti-racism, fighting for reproductive rights, or both (they are inherently linked, after all), you saw yourself getting involved or diving deeper into forms of activism. When Uranus stations direct on Sunday, January 22, your task is to keep going. Even if, for you as an individual, life feels happy and stable, Aquarius season and Uranus direct ask you to continue working with and giving to others.

And, of course, giving to others can be great fun. So when your ruling planet, loving Venus, enters Pisces and your 11th House of Friendship on Thursday, January 26, it’s the perfect night to spend with your chosen family, whether you’re organizing for fair pay, having a dinner party, or doing both at once. Have a great month, Taurus, and see you in February!
