YouTuber Speaks Out on Decision to File Lawsuit Against Nicki Minaj’s Fans

Kimberly Nicole Foster, the Harvard graduate behind the popular YouTube channel For Harriet, recently spoke with the Daily Beast about her impending lawsuit against the Barbz, the name given to Nicki Minaj’s ardent supporters.

Foster tweeted out a critique of Minaj last week, writing, “Nicki is so clearly a horrible person. Negativity sticks to her like glue. Idk if we’ve ever seen this before.”

Foster said she was able to shrug off the initial wave of responses from Nicki’s fans, but over time, the messages and texts she received became more and more alarming.

“It was normal, annoying stuff where I was like, ‘OK, block and move on,’” she said. “The messages became more threatening and dark, and then it started to be, ‘We’re gonna find you. I’m gonna kidnap you, I hope you get raped.”

Hours after the tweet was posted, Foster received a message in which someone threatened to find out the address of her nieces’ school to use them as “collateral damage.” These individuals were made aware of their existence because Foster previously mentioned on Twitter about going to their school for an upcoming “Grandfriends’ Day” event.

Foster then noticed Nicki herself was seemingly encouraging her fans’ behavior by liking tweets which reference their collective harassment towards her.

Foster said Minaj’s fan accounts are willing to go to great lengths in exchange for any form of engagement with the rapper.

“There’s an understanding among the Barbz that the harder they go for her—the more virulent the nastiness—there’s more of an opportunity for her to recognize them,” she said.

In preparation for her lawsuit, Kimberly Nicole Foster is in the process of gathering information about those who have threatened her over the past week. She does not plan to name Nicki in her suit.
