Yuvraj Singh: Asia Cup loss will motivate India to lift T20 World Cup

India`s bowling worries that include the absence of Jasprit Bumrah at the T20 World Cup, has given rise to a fair bit of negativity in cricketing circles.

However, Yuvraj Singh, a key member of India’s 2007 World T20-winning team, is convinced Rohit Sharma & Co will clinch the silverware.

“Look, they got a wake up call at the Asia Cup. Now’s the time to deliver. My gut feeling is that they will do well,” said Yuvraj.

He added: “In 2007, nobody thought we’d end up winning the cup. Rohit played a gem of an innings [30 off 16 balls] in the final. Similarly, I hope Rohit, Virat [Kohli], Hardik [Pandya] and the rest rise to the occasion.”

Yuvraj reckoned the disappointing show at the Asia Cup will be in the minds of the Indian team members and that could encourage them to do better.

Where the injured Bumrah is concerned, Yuvraj stressed: “Are we dreaming of becoming champions? Then, we should not allow any negative thinking. We all know Bumrah will be missed, but such injuries can happen to anyone He was at the Asia Cup and the team did not do well. We must now try and think how to cope with his absence. The batters will have to take the extra load and deliver,” said Yuvraj.

The 2007 World T20 held in South Africa is also memorable for Yuvraj from a personal point of view. At Durban against England on September 19, he hit Stuart Broad for six sixes in an over.
