Work on the Yuzu Nintendo Switch emulator continues steadily, and new builds have been pushed out recently to further improve emulation and performance of several high-profile titles, such as Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Yuzu Early Access build 3651 introduces plenty of fixes and improvements that enhance the experience in multiple titles. One of the biggest changes is the introduction of the sync framerate of video playback option, which finally allows users to lock video playback to the intended framerate when a game’s framerate is unlocked with mods. This is especially useful for both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, making playing these games at framerates higher than 30 FPS even more convenient. The 3651 build also increases performance by 8% for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and its predecessor, Super Mario Odyssey, and other unspecified titles, and introduces some FXAA changes, such as higher bit depth and a fix for color bending.
A few hours after the release of the Yuzu Early Access build 3651, another build, 3652, was pushed out to further improve Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom emulation, as it fixes an ambient occlusion issue that manifested when resolution is scaled with the 1080p mod.
With all these fixes and improvements, playing The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on PC with the Yuzu emulator and the many mods released for it so far is becoming more and more like the way to go to enjoy the latest entry in the series properly. Even on Nintendo Switch, the game is a more than worthy purchase, as it evolves and perfects the formula introduced in its predecessor, as highlighted by Nathan in his review.
The current public build of the Yuzu Nintendo Switch emulator can be downloaded from its official website. Early Access builds can only be downloaded by those subscribed to the emulator’s Patreon page.
