The Rajasthan Royals’ star spinner, Chahal, required just one wicket to surpass legendary West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo to become the leading wicket-taker in the history of the premier domestic T20 competition.

Chahal dismissed KKR captain Nitish Rana in the game to make the left-handed batter his 184th victim in the competition and leapfrogged Bravo – who had 183 scalps under his belt in the tournament.
Chahal – who was the Purple Cap winner in the previous IPL season – has been one of the goto bowlers for RR captain Sanju Samson and the senior India leg-spinner picked up the big wicket of KKR skipper in a crucial game.
Chahal was playing his 143rd match in the IPL and struck in the very first over he was bowling in Kolkata. En route to his 184th IPL scalp, Chahal had bowled at a career economy rate of 7.66. His best figures in the tournament are 5/40, which came in IPL 2022.
The right-arm wrist-spinner has been at his lethal best in the ongoing competition and returned with impressive figures of 4/17 against Sunrisers Hyderabad. SRH defeated RR by 4 wickets in the big run chase of 214/2 in Jaipur, the home ground of the Sanju Samson-led side.
In the match against Kolkata Knight Riders, Chahal picked up yet another four-for from his quota of four overs. The leg-spinner conceded 25 runs in the match. With his performance, Chahal became the leading wicket-taker in the ongoing competition with 21 wickets and counting and holds the Purple Cap on his head.
