Zendaya calls BS on the rumour she was booted from a restaurant for her outfit

It’s still not clear how this story got started, but, for the record, Zendaya did not get booted from a restaurant in Rome for wearing an inappropriate outfit. Just so we’re all clear.

On June 12, The Daily Mail reported that Zendaya was refused entry at a “swanky” Roman restaurant because the actor’s cropped black tube top and cargo pants did not fit the venue’s strict “smart casual” dress code. However, according to Z herself, that never actually happened.

After the false story was published, the Euphoria actor quickly took to her own IG Stories to call BS. Apparently not wishing to spend any more time or energy on the silly rumor than was strictly necessary, Zendaya simply uploaded a popular internet meme. Over an image of Dr. Manhattan, the meme reads, “Source?” on one side and, in larger letters in the centre, “I made it up.”

Zendaya’s friend and assistant Darnell Appling, however, did have the time today, and wrote his own response. “Well this is a bald lie. We never got denied anywhere,” Appling wrote on his IG Stories. The pair had walked into the restaurant, realised they’d actually eaten there before, and decided to try somewhere else. “We all wanted to try a new restaurant and went somewhere else to do so,” Appling explained. There is actually documented evidence that Zendaya had been to the restaurant in question, Eitch Borromini, as this is where Z was caught tripping and falling on the stairs back in 2022, per Page Six.

I gotta say, Appling’s version of events makes a lot more sense. I mean, imagine turning away Zendaya. Let’s be serious, people.
