Manchester United starlet Zidane Iqbal wants to keep pushing for more first-team chances after making his senior debut against Young Boys.

The 18-year-old midfielder came off the bench alongside close friend Charlie Savage late on against Young Boys in Wednesday’s Champions League clash at Old Trafford.

Teden Mengi and Shola Shoretire also came off the bench with Bjorn Hardley and Matej Kovar unused substitutes as Ralf Rangnick named an experimental side with United already qualified as group winners.

Iqbal soaked up the atmosphere on the touchline moments before coming on with plenty of friends and family in Old Trafford to witness his big moment.

‘It feels amazing, I’ve been working my whole life for this opportunity, it’s a dream come true, it’s just the start and hopefully I can keep pushing on,’ he told MUTV.

‘It was crazy, I was waiting for the ball to go out, embracing it all, looking at the fans, when I came on the loud cheer from the fans was unreal.

‘It was more excitement [than nerves], last night I just about slept. I was just embracing it all really, I was hoping to get a touch, I did thankfully, I really enjoyed it.’

Iqbal has enjoyed a breakthrough season in the Under-23 ranks this season but having got his first taste of senior action, is determined to earn himself more minutes under Rangnick.

‘It’s going well, I had an injury a couple of weeks back, a minor setback but the comeback has been great,” he said.

‘I’ve had a little taste, I want to keep pushing and who knows what’s to come in the future, hopefully there’s more to come.’
