Coming into the NBA in 2019, there were legitimate concerns about Zion Williamson’s weight. Those concerns always resurface each time he suffers an injury.

During a recent appearance on Gil’s Arena this week, Gilbert Arenas asked Williamson if it’s hard to diet at his age.

Williamson admit that he has struggled with his diet over the past few years. Fortunately for the Pelicans, he has made progress in that department.

“There are times when I say ‘That s— is hard. It’s hard.’ When you’re 20 … 22, a lot of money, feels like all the money in the world man, it is hard,” Williamson said. “I’m at that point now because of certain things, putting back the wisdom around me about certain things, I don’t wanna say they’re older because they get defensive, but I’m just putting people around me with wisdom that are putting me on game with certain things, and just go from there.”

Williamson appeared in just 29 games this past season due to injury.

Prior to the 2022-23 season, the Pelicans gave Williamson a five-year, $193 million max extension. They need him to be more reliable.
