Zomato Co-Founder Mohit Gupta Resigns After 4 Years: ‘I Remain A Long Only Investor’

Gupta penned a heartfelt farewell note praising his fellow founder Deepinder Goyal and said, ” I remain a long only investor in Zomato.”

Delhi: Indian food aggregator Zomato’s co-founder Mohit Gupta has called the curtain for his 4 and half year journey at the food delivery firm. Gupta resigned on Friday making him a third top executive to quit the company in a span of few weeks. Earlier in the week, Zomato’s new initiative head and former food delivery chief Rahul Ganjoo had also resigned, while Head of Intercity Legends Service, Siddharth Jhawar stepped down few weeks back.

Gupta penned a heartfelt farewell note praising his fellow founder Deepinder Goyal and said, ” I remain a long only investor in Zomato.”

ZOMATO CO-FOUNDER’S EMOTIONAL FAREWELL NOTE

“Four and a half years ago I joined Deepi (Deepinder Goyal) & this band of crazies trying to build the best food tech company in the country, I dare say the world. In this period, we brought our food delivery business back from the brink, survived crazy competition, the pandemic, and became a large and profitable business (as unlikely as it seemed at the beginning). The journey to build a world class tech business out of India, for India (and then maybe the world) is still on, just 1% done,” said Gupta in his note.

Speaking of “other unknown adventures” that he moving towards, Gupta’s farewell note struck the emotional chord at the company.

In an emotional signoff, he further added, “Everyone – please continue shining, and making products that India loves using. You are all so brilliant in so many ways, in the hands of a very capable leadership team. I am looking forward to seeing you continuing to build on everything we have learnt over the years. Be relentless, keep learning, and build an organisation that is a role model for the rest of the world. I remain a long only investor in Zomato. Goodbye and Godspeed.”

Before being promoted as the co-founder in May 2020, Gupta was Chief Executive of the segment and is famously credited to build the firm’s food delivery operations from ground zero.
