In roughly a decade, the Audi Q5 went from being the new kid on the premium German automaker’s block to becoming its top-selling model. In fact, it’s also one of the best-selling small luxury SUVs in the land. Based on the limited information available, the next Audi Q5 will build on this momentum and bring even more to the table.

Based on these spy shots, we can surmise that the new Q5’s styling will mimic that of the second-generation Q5, which was launched in 2018. This test mule’s camouflage is considerable however the SUV’s basic lines and proportions are clear. Also evident is the overall shape of the familiar signature single-frame grille though it seems that it may have grown slightly.

The fascia is not the only thing that’s grown as the new Q5 in the picture gallery sports a longer wheelbase and looks to be wider as well. This should help improve interior space, in particular for those sitting in the second row.

This pictured Audi is an SQ5 as evidenced by the large quad tailpipes, as well as the grille’s flanks, the conspicuous vertical air curtains on either side, along with a larger, lower intake. Rumours about the next SQ5 indicate that hybrid assistance is almost guaranteed meaning that it will likely benefit from more than the current sporty SUV’s 349 hp. If plug-in hybrid technology comes into play, a real possibility for a potential RS Q5 model, we can easily imagine the number soaring to 500 or more, to take on the BMW X3 M.
