Last year, New Year’s Eve was stopped in its tracks with COVID-19 restrictions thwarting parties across Perth at the eleventh hour.
So to make up for it, venues are going all out to ring in 2023 with some of the most extravagant celebrations ever staged.
Whether you prefer a decadent fine-dining dinner, electric DJ set, fancy dress fiesta or disco dance party, you’ll find it in our wrap of the top events to snap up tickets to this NYE.
Toots
After celebrating its first birthday earlier this year, secret disco hotspot Toots will throw its first-ever New Year’s Eve party with lashings of razzle-dazzle. Guests can expect special disco ball cocktails, confetti, roving performers and DJ Adam Kelly on the decks in what promises to be a boogie extravaganza. Hidden away in Chinatown, you’ll need to do a little research to find the mystery bar but it’s well worth it. Entry is free for NYE.
The Shorehouse
Be spirited away to France for the Shorehouse’s Riviera-themed soiree. Inspired by the luxurious coastal destinations of Cannes, St Tropez and Monaco, the evening will feature four French courses paired with wines from Burgundy plus caviar, an aperitif cart and profiterole trolley. Guests will have the opportunity to try rare allocation-only wines while listening to smooth live jazz at the Swanbourne restaurant. Tickets are $275, with optional add-ons.
SNACK Festival
WA’s largest NYE festival will be headlined by Darude, best known for 1999 banger Sandstorm. If that isn’t reason enough to grab a ticket to this mammoth celebration at Claremont Showground, there will be multiple stages covering a range of music styles, a karaoke village, foam party, giant silent disco, 10 unique bars and more surprises than attendees could dream of. Final release tickets are from $149.10.
Good Company
Grab your buddies and reflect on the year that was at the Karrinyup NYE Mixer. On the drinks front, there will be aperitivo from Hotel Starlino, cocktails from West Winds Gin and wines from Villa Sandi as part of the 4½-hour package. Pair that with a live oyster shucking station, roaming canapes, Tuscan pasta station and charcuterie table and you have quite the feast as DJs bring the party beats. Tickets are $187.20.
The Aviary
A neon jungle awaits those who venture up to The Aviary’s CBD rooftop, in keeping with its Electric Miami summer pop-up. The space will be transformed with vibrant theming for the Miami New Year Festival, and the three-hour package will include bevvies and two tasty food stations. DJs will get the dance floor pumping and a glitter bar will add extra bedazzlement to faces and bodies. Tickets are from $110, plus booking fee.
The Royal
Make like The Great Gatsby with a ticket to The Royal’s 1920s-styled affair, where guests can deck themselves out in Prohibition-era finery and pretend they are in New York City with burlesque performers and a “fun” casino set-up. Tickets are $25, which includes entry and a glass of bubbles on arrival, or add on a half-hour in the private karaoke room for $75. Elsewhere in the city venue, wine bar Willi’s and fine dining establishment Fleur have their own offerings if a costume party isn’t your thing.
Magnet House
The renowned Burning Man festival will be recreated for one night only between Magnet House and Amplifier in the CBD, perfect for party animals. The big bash carries the dress code “Nevada desert eleganza extravaganza” and attendees are encouraged to pull out all the stops with their ensembles. In return, they can expect firey entertainment, a silent disco and lazer lane installation. Entry is $10 before $11pm or $20 thereafter.
Dandelion
Get the night started early with a sunset package at this new Karrinyup restaurant, with a lychee martini on arrival and banquet prepared by chef Chase Weber between 5.30pm and 8pm. Or join in the fun a little later from 8.30pm and enjoy the same offering plus a three-hour drinks package featuring Silent Disco wines, Dandelion Spirit Co cocktails and select beers. DJs will kick off at 10pm, leading up to the countdown and beyond. Tickets for the sunset package are $95, or $185 for the drinks-inclusive option.
The Raft
Hit the river and cruise in style aboard Perth’s signature floating event space, where it will be a sea of white thanks to this year’s theming. Aboard The Raft, there will be a five-hour drinks package, substantial canapes and live entertainment included in the $250 ticket price, with a VIP upgrade available to secure a private space and luxurious extras for your gang.
Ruinbar
Everyone loves an 80s party and it’s even better with a glam rock edge. New Northbridge haunt Ruinbar is urging guests to go all out with their costumes, with prizes for best dressed, and live band Rocket Baby will crank out hair-raising numbers. Presale tickets are $20, inclusive of two drinks, or rock up at the door for $10, entry only.
Birdbath
We all know Perth loves a pop-up bar, and this one from the brains behind The Rechabite is set to be a lot of fun. Birdbath will sit in good company within the Perth Cultural Centre in Northbridge until April, with its New Year’s Eve party packed with a silent disco and it promises plenty of bubbles, bites and bumps of caviar.
QT Perth
Republic of Fremantle
The Freo distillery has just unveiled its moody new dining room, and to celebrate the venue will throw a New Year’s Eve celebration of epic proportions. An immersive four-course dining experience awaits discerning foodies, paired with a cocktail made from limited-release Navy Strength Gin. After the main meal, guests can opt to stay on for more drinks in the mezzanine or bar spaces to ring in 2023. Tickets are from $130, depending on seating time.
Long Neck Brewery
Enjoy sweeping views across the Swan River with a prime position at Long Neck in East Perth. Its NYE spectacular will be hosted by a drag king and queen, while Brazilian dancers will add to the atmosphere and door prizes will go home with lucky winners. Tiered ticket options mean everyone can get among the fun, beginning at $15 for a drink on arrival or upgrade to a VIP seat for $55 and score a two-hour drinks package.
Pirate Life
Break out the feathers and colourful threads for a Carnivale celebration at the Pirate Life precinct, which will encapsulate the two newest venues, CRUSH and honey. At just $10, tickets gain the holder entry and a drink on arrival, plus entertainment and there are food and drink specials. There’s plenty of action happening at the Sneakers and Jeans sister venues elsewhere in the city, too, from a four-course dinner at TOMA to a Studio 54 bash at The Flour Factory and an After Dark party at Caballitos.
