Adam Sandler has paid tribute to the legendary game show host and his Happy Gilmore co-star, Bob Barker, following the death of the age of 99. Barker sadly passed away at his home in Los Angeles on Saturday, August 26, with Sandler sharing several images of himself alongside the host of The Price is Right and heaping praise on “such a sweet funny guy.”

“The man. The myth. The best. Such a sweet funny guy to hang out with. Loved talking to him. Loved laughing with him. Loved him kicking the crap out of me. He will be missed by everyone I know! Heartbreaking day. Love to Bob always and his family! Thanks for all you gave us!”

Sandler took to social media to pay tribute to Barker, who starred alongside in the 1996 sports comedy Happy Gilmore. In one of the movie’s most memorable scenes, Sandler’s aggressive golfer Happy is paired with Barker (who plays himself) for a charity game.

Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately depending on how you look at it, the two do not see eye-to-eye resulting in Happy knocking Barker to the ground. What he doesn’t know is that Barker is a pretty adept fighter, with the game show host rising to his feet and laying a brutal beat down on Sandler’s character. So entertainingly brutal is the battle, in fact, that it won an MTV Movie Award for Best Fight.

The friendship between Adam Sandler and Bob Barker continued after Happy Gilmore, with the pair reuniting for another fight back in 2015, and the relationship clearly meant a lot to the actor.
