In what marked All Elite Wrestling’s first PPV to be held outside the USA territory, Bryan Danielson defeated Kazuchika Okada in the final match of the night. The American Dragon tapped out The Rainmaker in this first-time-ever matchup.

Then during the post-AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2023 media scrum, Bryan revealed that in a “freak accident” during the headliner match, he ended up suffering a fractured forearm. It happened Okada performed an elbow drop on him.

Admittedly, Bryan didn’t have his arm in “a safe space” when Okada performed the move. Now, the injury will keep him out of action for six to eight weeks. Hopefully, he will be okay within AEW’s next big outing, All In, this summer.

As reported by Fightful Select, Bryan was already in a “banged up” state, going into the Forbidden Door 2023. This was the reason behind her irregular wrestling schedule on AEW TV over the past few months.

Bryan also admitted that he started doing the “Yes” chants instead of doing some of the planned staff at Forbidden Door due to the forearm injury troubling him. He was also spotted sporting a sling following the PPV.

Speaking of the PPV, in the opening match, AEW World Champion MJF defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi to retain his title. The win came after MJF hit the Japanese veteran with the Dynamite Diamond Ring behind the referee’s back.

The champion wasn’t very keen on making his presence at Forbidden Door 2023 as Tony Khan scheduled the match at the dual-branded PPV without even informing him. But ultimately, he appeared and pulled off yet another successful title defense.

MJF’s current opponent Adam Cole couldn’t attend Forbidden Door 2023 as he’s dealing with some sort of undisclosed injury issue. He was scheduled to face NJPW Strong star Tom Lawlor but that match was canceled.

In another top match at the AEW-NJPW joint venture, AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm defeated NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion Willow Nightingale to retain her Title. Storm had her Outcasts’ cohorts Saraya and Ruby Soho in the corner for this match.

Eventually, the referee sent them to the back for causing distractions. Storm was busted open during the match but she planted Willow with the Storm Zero finisher to gain a clean pin-fall win.

Toni Storm won her title at AEW Double or Nothing in May by defeating Jamie Hayter, the former champion. Forbidden Door marked her second title defense on TV after beating Skye Blue on last week’s AEW Dynamite.
