Ever since Karan Johar’s big Bollywood directorial comeback Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani hit the screens yesterday (July 28), the audience has been flooding the theatres to watch the family entertainer. Starring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh in the lead roles along with Jaya Bachchan, Dharmendra, and Shabana Azmi, the film promises to be a larger-than-life family entertainer. And well, if we have KJo in the director’s chair, we know we are in for a treat.

After a strong start on Day 1, the film is headed towards a bigger weekend. The film earned a whopping total of 11.10 crores on its first day. According to initial trade reports and booking records, Saturday’s footfall has already seen a great jump. Due to powerful word of mouth and incredible audience reaction, the movie has already gotten the cash registers ringing. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that the film has marked Bollywood’s return to good cinema.
The major reason why each and every audience member is leaving the theatres extremely satisfied is because the film is not only entertaining them but also moving them with the emotional roller-coaster ride. It is that Bollywood family entertainer for which the audience has been waiting for a long time. Families are loving the film as the story tells of family values and Indian customs without being too preachy. It is that movie which the entire family of three generations can go and watch and each and every member will easily relate to at least one character. It is relatable and how! Not only the public but film critics have also given their stamp of approval to the film. Several reviewers have called the film ‘paisa vasool’, ‘full on entertaining’ and ‘a perfect family watch’.
About Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani
The film is based on Rocky Randhawa, a loud and flamboyant Punjabi boy, and Rani Chatterjee, an intellectual Bengali journalist. After facing family opposition to their relationship, they decide to live with each other’s families for three months before getting married. How this family switch goes is what the story further entails.
Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is not your typical love story. It’s filled with love, emotions & sentiments. But not without a very important and powerful social message on patriarchy that has been followed for years in our society. Karan Johar has woven a beautiful message very subtly in this love story.
