The second season of the hit manga adaptation Alice In Borderland premiered on Netflix on December 22. Starring Kento Yamazaki and Tao Tsuchiya in the lead roles in the Japanese survival series, the show has become the most-watched Japanese drama on Netflix with record-breaking viewership in just four days.
Alice In Borderland 2 soars at No. 1; becomes Netflix’s most-watched Japanese drama with 61.19 million viewing hours in just four days
Netflix Golden revealed that season 2 soars at the No. 1 spot in the Global Non-English TV format list. The new season, which arrived on the platform a year after season 1, garnered 61.19 million viewing hours over its premiere weekend on the week between December 19 and December 25. The series is amongst the Top 10 list in 90 countries including Japan, the US, Canada, Brazil, France and Hong Kong.
The new record surpasses the Korean drama Squid Game’s record which had garnered 63 million viewing hours in its first week in the Global Top 10 list while Alice In Borderland did it in 4 days.
In season 2 of the survival series, Arisu (Kento Yamazaki) and Usagi (Tao Tsuchiya) try to unravel the mysteries of Borderland to return to the real world. In a place, they believe holds the key to uncovering these mysteries, they meet allies, enemies, and the mastermind behind all of the games. Arisu and the others pit themselves against games of a scale and difficulty that exceed the first season. The remaining games are only the Jack, Queen, and King cards, but will they be able to collect them all and return to the real world?
Based on the manga of the same name by Haro Aso, the popular breakout Japanese series on Netflix stars Kento Yamazaki, Tao Tsuchiya, Nijiro Murakami, Ayaka Miyoshi, Dori Sakurada, Aya Asahina, Yuri Tsunematsu, Yutaro Watanabe, Yuki Morinaga, Keita Machida, Hayato Isomura, Kai Inowaki, Katsuya Maikuma, Honami Sato, Chihiro Yamamoto, Nobuaki Kaneko, Tsuyoshi Abe, Sho Aoyagi, Riisa Naka, and Tomohisa Yamashita.
