Manchester United winger Amad Diallo has suggested that he may spend a second season on loan at Sunderland.

The 20-year-old has been one of Sunderland’s standout performers since joining on a temporary deal last August, scoring 13 goals in 37 league appearances this season.

Diallo netted another sublime goal on Sunday to help fire Sunderland to a 3-0 win over Preston, which secured their place in the Championship play-offs where they will meet Luton Town.

Sunderland manager Tony Mowbray believes Diallo, who was signed by United in a £37 million deal from Atalanta in 2021, will get an opportunity to impress Erik ten Hag in pre-season this summer.

But Diallo is not ruling out the prospect of remaining at Sunderland for a second spell.

‘Playing against Luton is very hard but I hope we’ll be in the Premier League next season and maybe I’ll come back, I don’t know,’ Diallo said after Sunderland’s win over Preston on the final day of the Championship on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Sunderland centre-back Luke O’Nien praised the impact Diallo has made since his arrival last summer.

‘I said it the other day to someone, the day he came in the standards he’s raised just in terms of what he does on the ball is incredible,’ O’Nien told Sky Sports.

‘Thank you, man. You’ve still got a job to do but he’s been incredible. We love him and I know the fans love him as well.’
