Amir Khan has been handed a two-year ban from boxing after testing positive for a banned substance.

The British fighter tested positive for ostarine in a UKAD test following his defeat to Kell Brook last year and will now be unable to return to the ring until 2025.

Khan announced his retirement from boxing in May but did consider a fight against former undisputed super-lightweight champion Josh Taylor.

The 36-year-old held unified light-welterweight world championships between 2009 and 2012 and claimed Olympic silver for Great Britain at the 2004 games.

Khan, who is also known for appearing on ITV reality series I’m a Celebrity, was robbed at gunpoint last year.

He hung up his gloves after 40 fights, winning 36 and losing four, with 21 of his victories coming via knockouts.
