Although Hathaway chose this look to go with, it’s not her favourite from the movie—that award goes to the Chanel ensemble Andy wore to meet a fictional designer in the film. “I love what I wore to the James Hoult party, that velvet Chanel coat that went to the knees, and then the miniskirt and the stockings and the slouched boots,” she told Interview magazine.

This isn’t the first time the movie crossed over into the real-life fashion lore. During an interview ahead of Meryl Streeps’s December 2017 cover, the Vogue editor asked Streep who’s been the most challenging character to play—to which Streep cheekily alluded to her portrayal of Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada.
