Anne Hathaway Dressed Like Her ‘Devil Wears Prada’ Character While Seated Next to Anna Wintour at NYFW

The Devil Wears Prada still has a chokehold on all of us, 16 years later. Case in point: Anne Hathaway is living out her Andy Sachs fantasies sitting beside none other than Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour during New York Fashion Week. That’s not all: Hathaway was wearing an outfit that’s eerily similar to her character’s final look in the movie. If you couldn’t tell by all the low-rise jeans and shoulder bags, it’s 2006 again — and this moment is simply another confirmation.

During the Michael Kors Spring 2023 show on September 14, Hathaway and Wintour — who’s widely believed to be the inspiration behind the fictional Miranda Priestly — were seated next to each other in the front row next to Serena Williams and New York City mayor, Eric Adams. Could Williams and Adams be stand-ins for the film’s favorite supporting characters, Emily, Miranda’s fashion-obsessed first assistant, and Nigel, the editor in chief’s right-hand man?

Just like her on-screen counterpart, Hathaway wore a black turtleneck under a brown collared jacket to the Michael Kors show. Unlike Sachs, the WeCrashed actor’s style is high fashion and flawless — her character’s old leather jacket was swapped out for a chocolate crocodile trench coat for the IRL fashion show. Hathaway’s tousled bangs and half-up hairstyle was another not-so-subtle nod to Andy Sachs (a character she almost missed out on playing).
